IT and software development for neuroscience research
Neuroscience is arguably one of the most fascinating horizons of human knowledge, with its investigations spanning from immediately practical problems such as neurodegenerative diseases all the way to existential questions of conciousness. Such vast and complex field of study demands, of course, the highest grade of technological solutions to support its advancement.
At Tauffer Consulting we are constantly engaged with partners in academia to develop high quality, open source software to speed-up data analysis, facilitate collaboration between groups and promote scientific discovery. Here's some of the projects we have recently been involved in, with our partner CatalystNeuro.
EcogVIS
EcogVIS is a GUI for time series visualization with tools for annotation and data processing for Electrocorticography (ECoG) signals stored in NWB files. EcogVIS is open source and developed on top of PyQt.

Metadata Standardization GUI
Metadata standardization Graphical User Interface, makes it easier to create and edit metadata related to neurophysiological experiments, fostering standardization and speeding up scientific work. This interface is open source and developed with Dash
Electrophysiology OSS
We actively collaborate on the development of open source software for electrophysiology processing such as SpikeInterface and NEO, helping expand their interfaces with multiple electrophysiology data formats. We are also engaged in efforts for containerization of spike sorting algorithms, using Docker and Singularity, making state-of-the-art algorithms easily available to neuroscience researchers and allowing the allocation of their heavy processing demands to the Cloud.
At Tauffer Consulting we love to put our skills to the service of science and academic research! Need assistance with software development, data science, visualization or user interfaces in your own research? Get in touch with us!
